problems with Eureka Seven audio...

Stuttering video? Out of sync audio? Can't even get the video to play? This is the place to go.

problems with Eureka Seven audio...

Postby kundalinikid » Tue Jun 29, 2010 10:44 am

i'm one of the people (but not the douchebag from the Episode 2 comments!) who doesn't seem to have ffdshow setup properly to playback HE-AAC audio. if anyone would be kind enough to give me a walkthrough of the proper setup, i would greatly appreciate it! i am using MPC-HC (v1.3.1862.0) for video playback in combination with Haali Media Splitter (v1.10.175.0) and CCCP (v2009-09-09) on a Windows 7 (32-bit) machine. if you need any other info about my setup, let me know...

thanks in advance!

Just saw this. I'm at work at the moment but I'll do a settings write-up when I get home.

OK, looking at the software you listed as using, while I'd suggest ditching CCCP and replacing it with Shark007's codec pack, since CCCP should be using FFDShow's audio, what you'll want to see is if MPC-HC's External Filters has FFDShow Audio Decoder listed. If it does, you'll need to check and make sure that it is set to decode AAC in the Codecs section. If it is, then, while playing a file with HE-AAC, you can open the FFDShow Audio window (should be a blue icon in your task tray) and check the Info and CPU section. The output should be listing stereo or 5.1 depending on what you are watching with.

MPC-HC's Properties menu will show it as mono no matter what, but as long as FFDShow displays the correct channels, you'll be decoding it fine.

@OZC

so i've verified correct playback for each of the currently available episodes, with the exception of Episode 2, which results in nothing but periodic pops and crackling when played back using MPC-HC (however, it plays back fine using VLC)... any idea what that might be about?

Hmm, that's really weird. I don't think I did anything differently on Episode 2 when processing the audio. Let me try re-processing the audio from the AC3 files and I'll stick it on Dropbox. If you can remux it in and it plays back, I'll replace the audio in Ep 2 when I batch it.

I'll add a link to it here when I have it uploaded. If you need help remuxing, let me know and I'll give you instructions, or look in the Ep 5 post comments with the FLAC pack and follow those instructions as it's the same concept. Since you didn't say if it was the English or Japanese, I'll do both.

i'm sorry i didn't see this earlier... it's just the English track (the Japanese track plays perfectly).

as for muxing, i've got that covered... thanks for the offer to help, though (you've already gone above and beyond the call of duty)!

Give that a shot and see what happens. It's re-encoded from the original AC3 but using the up to date tools for audio that I use so it should work.

Excellent. I'll make a note of that and swap for a v2 in the 1-25 batch.
