Subtitles in MPC

Stuttering video? Out of sync audio? Can't even get the video to play? This is the place to go.

Subtitles in MPC

Postby Cman21 » Mon Mar 15, 2010 4:05 pm

lol the sky must be falling and im asking a question on, how in the world do you get subtitles to load in MPC? i mean i can select an .ass file and get the to show but i can never get any subs that are inside the video itself. i am mainly asking cuz i noticed that mpc is ALOT better than KMP in subtitle rendering. this is extremely noticeable when you have moving credits. mpc is nice and smooth and KMP is really jumpy and redraws the subs every few seconds. what is really sad is that VLC does a better job than KMP and MPC on this :o

so i guess there is really 2 questions here.

1. how to load subtiles from the video?
2. is there any way to make KMP render subs any better?

i don't have KMP anymore so i'm gona guess how i did this, LOL.

right click and then u should see advanced somewhere when you do so, click on advanced, after doing that you'll c subtitles and a few other options. now you should be able to configure it. And you are right tho, it doesn't render subtitles as well.

ya i already whet to preferences than subtitles and told it to use external filters for the subs so that it will properly render the subtitles. do i need to force it to use a certain subtitle filter and if so which one?

Add DirectVobSub to MPC. That's the sub renderer I use and it works just fine.

View -> Options -> External Filters -> Add Filter -> DirectVobSub (auto-loading version)

If you don't see it as an addable option, VSFilter should come with the auto-loading version of DirectVobSub, so you can drop the relevant files into the right folder (for me it's Program Files -> CCCP -> Filters, but it sounds like you're using K-Lite).

Why not just remove your current setup and use CCCP. That one comes with a preconfigured MPC.

Do you have subs selected in the Haali Media Splitter? It'd be the white icon in your taskbar, make sure you've got subtitle set selected.
